Undergraduates in Graduate Courses

Undergraduates in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are required to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and meet the standards set forth by the department in terms of class year to enter graduate-level courses. Some departments with bachelor/master programs allow students with junior standing to enter graduate courses, but in most cases, students must have senior standing to enroll. Students are limited to taking two graduate courses per semester and are limited to a total of 16 credits during any semester in which they take a graduate course. Typically, students may take no more than three graduate courses in total while enrolled as undergraduates. However, some bachelor/master programs may allow four courses to be completed.

Refer to the Office of the Provost website for the most current University policy regarding undergraduates enrolling in graduate courses and double-counting policies.
