LAW 7152 :
Spanish for Lawyers

**Proficiency in Spanish is required**

Spanish for Lawyers will follow a practice-based model to teach students who are already proficient in Spanish how to effectively communicate with and advocate for Spanish-speaking clients in such areas as Immigration, Family, Criminal, Personal Injury, Bankruptcy, Landlord/Tenant, Wills & Power of Attorneys, and other Civil Areas of Law. The course will include some refresher of grammar and general legal vocabulary. The course will also include a client counseling platform where students will interview with co-counsel and negotiate and/or advocate for their clients in a moot court setting. It will also teach new ways to advertise for prospective clients in Spanish and reaching out to the Latino Community.

Pre-Requisite: Proficiency in Spanish. Proficiency can be achieved through study and/or experience, and the students will come to the class with different abilities. Fluency is not required.
