LAW 7008 :
Children & the Law

Students will explore issues, involving children's rights, constitution limitations on parental rights, child abuse and neglect, termination of parental rights, ethical considerations for children's attorneys, and evidentiary concerns in juvenille cases. Students will learn through a blended "doctrine/doing" approach by supplementing their understanding of substative law and policy with practical application of those principles in a classroom setting. Students will write several short response papers throughout the semester and, in lieu of a final examination, engage in a practical exercise to develop trial advocacy skills.
