Copyright Law

Prerequisite: Intellectual Property (LAW 7048) This course will teach students the fundamental principles of copyright law through a careful examination of the Copyright Act of 1976. The course will build on the foundation that prior acts have had on the development of present copyright law. The class will focus on the concepts of legal protection of "creative" content as an intangible property right that have been statutorily recognized in the US for over 200 years. The course will provide students with an understanding of how US copyright law functions and adapts in the changing environments of technological and international developments.
