LAW 7116 :
Jewish Law

This course introduces the substance and process of Jewish law, and examines basic jurisprudential questions from the perspective of the Jewish tradition. By delving into another system of law, students will be able to place current debates in American law with wider philosophical, religious and historical context. The readings, bring together primary and secondary sources from the Jewish, Christian and American traditions. This course will be cross registered with the Theology department and bring law students into conversations with graduate students from that discipline. Evaluation will be based on several response papers throughout the semester.
